"Today Is The 23rd Day Of November In The Year Of Our Lord 2011."

"It Is Now Post Time."
We're Off. When I first looked at today's pictures courtesy of McFinn, I thought that was one of Plains old girl friends ahhahahah!!.  Well here it is the Eve before Thanksgiving. big party day, and a little travel day, yeah right. Not a good day to be at an airport or a train station. Most travelled day of the year. That is probably pretty amazing to some people, but if you look at it in its proper perspective, sheople basically have that one day to get where they are going, because the country doesn't shut down for a month like it does for Christmas..Christmas you got weekends and days off and a month to travel, as Christmas is no longer one day, it is a season, and you better start preparing, because it is a stormin on us.. OK lets enjoy the best Holiday of the year first. That is right. Simples favorite Holiday. Family, Friends, Eat those dreaded turkeys, and everything that goes with it..Party up, football, and you got four days off.. nothing wrong with that. In comparison, sheople are not out spending money they don't have on things people don't want nor do they need.. Of course, even this Holiday is getting sucked into the vacuum of commercialism that is Christmas, as Black Friday is looming and loons will be up at 3 AM to storm some store too save a dollar on a pair of sneakers.. Anyway, lets have a Great Thanksgiving.. Today you can think about the things you should be thankful for, and tomorrow you can say THANKS.. We all are Thankful for our Families and Friends, and most of us should be grateful for the Country we live in although we do bitch about it, but that is what makes it great.. I know each of us has our own thoughts on what we are Thankful for, and I respect that,  everyone has something special that they have to say Thanks for, and it may be personnel...Me, I am just Thankful that I am still here, and can still enjoy my life, and the people I know, as much as I do...We all can be Thankful for the fact that we are not Turkeys..They have met the cleaver in recent days at an alarming clip..Please remember tomorrow as you munch on a wing that this guy was in prison with about a million other guilty as sin turkeys, right before he got cleaved, and the worst thing he did was gobble..poor son-of-a-bitch.. they should eat parrots on Thanksgiving. I got one I would gladly cleave..Ok guys talk about anything Thanksgiving, or anything you feel like, yeah like I gotta tell you that.. Me I will be remote, but I will check in sometime today.. Tomorrows post will be a special one...well more special than usual..lol....later...Great pictures Finn..

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving Mickey, welcome aboard!

It is a lil Known fact Simple that the very first Turkey Carved up was done by none other than John Carver the First Gov. of Plymouth. And this is where they got the saying "Carve up the turkey"

And yes Simple that Pic does remind me of one of my first Girlfriends, check out those pretty Big eye's, we had to break up because of her Fowl language.
And just rember everyone be thankful on Thanksgiving. Even the Great General Patton gave Tanks!!!! Smirks and walks out

As always, great pics J. McC. Thanksgiving holds many memories for me as I'm a bit older than most of the crazy-assed citizens; not that much older I might add. Hung with some of the guys from Burgerville before the rest of you did, such as The General, Jimmy Shirley & a few others. The best of the football games - St. John's Eagles vs. Roxborough Indians. The last game happened on Thanksgiving of 1955 and St. J's won 13-12. Will never forget how happy we all were on that day except the Big E as he was a die-hard Rox. fan. Rox. won the majority of the long-lasting feud but we always will remember the last win. St. J's Boys High School graduated it's last class in 1956 and then the boys started going mostly to Roman; some to Rox. Thanksgiving HS football games were never the same after that. Roman vs. Rox. doesn't generate the neighborhood excitement because most of the kids at Rox. don't live in Rox. (The girls high school graduated it's last class in 1964.) And, always will I remember the great family get-togethers for our Thanksgiving feasts. Those were the days! No matter where we had our dinner the whole family, which was very large, would always congregate at my grandparents to wind down the day. I hope all of you have some good memories of your past Thanksgivings and hope you make many more.

Strebor you are right....the last touchdown ever scored was an 80yard touchdown run by Tommy Casey which helped the St John's Eagles defeat the heavily favored Roxborough Indians....13-12

Strebor said...

Yep, Davey, it was Tommy Casey's 80yard run, which made the game 12-12and Johnny Hockmeier kicked the extra point.

Simple, wanted to give you a head's up about a show airing on Thanksgiving which I know you will not want to miss, "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving". Yep, none other than your favorite, Lady GAG-A. Err....pardon me while I gag.
Welcome to D.C.'s sister, Micki from Simple's sister. And, to all of you other crazy-asses citizens, as J. McC said "eat, drink and be merry". "Happy Thanksgiving"

Thanks for reminding me to DVR that GAGA Show. Now that AMy Winehouse is gone I have latched onto her. She is a Concert Pianist and writes her own stuff and she thinks outside the box. She would fit right in here.........She loves animals and would also be great in that bunker with Simple..........A GAGA Thanksgiving..........

Hi everybody, that has to be a great nmemory for you Dave. Much like our Thanksgiving (after dinner with my family) I have joined Dave and his family, with sometimes part of my family, and half the neighborhood. Always a great time. Like I said my favorite Holiday. I kinda remember the last game, but I think it may be like more hearing about it than actually being there. Although I may have been there. I remember Tommy Casey's picture hangin in Strebors room for till we moved off of Fleming St.
Roxborough vs. St. Johns was a true rivalry.
Not just football teams.
Roxborough against Manayunk
Protestant against Catholic
It was a great day for the old Town. Hope everybody has a great day tomorrow. I will be remote in the morning. I will post as soon as possible. If anyone comes on later please blow TAPS. Thank You..
