"Today Is The 10th Day Of November (MARINE CORPS BIRTHDAY) In The Year Of Our Lord 2011."

Happy Birthday Marines!!
Yep, Number 236 years of the U. S. M. C.  Leave it to the Marine Corps to be founded in a bar, and better yet a bar in Philadelphia Pa.  one Tun Tavern..All of these 236 years The Marines have served this country in every war and have served it well.  From The Revolution, to Chapultepec, to Tripoli, to Belleau Woods, and Iwo, to Inchon, and Khe Sahn, to the present day Iraq and Afghanistan, there have always been Marines on the front lines doing their duty for their fellow Marines, for their Country, for their Family's and their honor.  There are many elite outfits in our Country today..The Marine Corps was always an elite outfit and always will be.  I met and served with some of the greatest men I have ever had the honor to be with. Many of my friends and brothers are Marines, and today I salute you all..HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
I remember my first Marine Corps Birthday, it was 1964 and I was at Camp Geiger in Infantry Training Regiment. I had just graduated Parris Island on November 3rd, now you have to understand, on the Island there was no liberty, no talking, no walking (unless drilling) I thought my name was maggot, puke, and a few other choice words that were really drilled into me..Having arrived at Geiger on the 4th The Marine Corps Birthday was only days away..I found it very very strange that there was nobody screamin to get out of the racks, there was nobody telling us to fall out, it was like a reverse nightmare. One of the Sergeants came in and said Happy Birthday Marines, today is a Holiday and you have base liberty.. We just looked at each other, like what the fuck is he talkin about. I just said fuck it and laid back down, waiting for somebody to turn my rack over.. Hanson says, lets go get some chow.. So, we shower up head to the mess hall, actually walking not being drilled..I'm still waiting to get thrown in the brig, when lo and behold we walk into the mess hall and there in the middle is a spread like I had never seen.. Turkey, Hams being sliced, mashed potatoes, vegetable of all sorts, fruit a giant cake. AND KEGS OF BEER.. You gotta be fuckin kiddin me..After I get outta the Corps I am joining back up every November.  Well I got my first drunk on as a Marine that day, there were many, many more to follow. I didn't find out the significance of this day until the following year, and I told everybody the story of my first one..That is the one that will always stick in my mind, because I actually thought I was hallucinating, especially after downing as much beer as possible and getting so smashed I don't remember getting back to any barracks and still don't. The next day being Veteran's Day, we even got a chance to sober up..So, as I go to celebrate with my friends today, in the Yunk and down at 10th and Oregon (Cookies Tavern R.I.P. COOKIE) I will think of that day and all the Marines past and present that I have celebrated with..Today we bring a new addition to Cookies with us Lance Corporal Rodney Morris, yep Rodney is a Bulldog, The Marine Corps mascot. He will naturally be attired in full uniform.. Marine Corps red sweater with U.S.M.C. lettering, a helmet or a doo rag whichever the mascot desires, and a pair of goggles.. This should make the news.. I am heading outta the Ville around 11.  So to all my Marine Corps Brothers,  SEMPER FI!!! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY......

Spent the Day at Cookies with Simple and all the Guys, L?Cpl. Rodney Morris was the hit of the whole thing, evryone was walking up asking can I get my picture taken with you? I thought they meant me. I'm smilling saying sure and then I get pushed out of the way. They said not you the Bull Dog.Well right then I knew this Dog was a Chick magnet, so I figure I'll get the leash off Dave, then this guy yells hey Dave that Dog is a chick magnet, I stoped in my Tracks when Butch yells he would need a whole Kennel.

Simple is fucked up. No, I mean more fucked up than usual.. Butchie was talking some form of punjab and Floyd says to me. When is the last time he was out? I thought that was pretty funny. then Floyd says it again, and I think it is still pretty funny. So Floyd tells the General. when is the last time Butchie was out, I laugh again. Finally somebody walks in and Butch is talkin in tongues and I say, yo when is the last time he was out?? butchie glares at me and says what did you say? What the fuck floyd said it nine times..
