"It Is Now Post Time.
"We're Off." Evidently Jimmy McFinns power is off, no pics and I think he wants us to look at some web site that could be offensive too the human eye..Can't wait to click into that twilight zone.
Here it is, All Saints Day..One of the only caveats of growing up Catholic. We were off school the day after Halloween, of course we had too go to church..That gulag known as Catholic School, had a knot around your neck when you were a kid that takes half a life time to get off.. When we think of Saints, we are thinking of true heroes in most times something other than war..Most Saints if you ever read anything about them were mild mannered and meek yet strong people. They lived by their convitions to their faith, in many circumstances at the risk of torturre and death. Most of the early Saints were martyred by the Roman Empire. If you recall, they threw the early Christians to the lions as entertainment. These few brave souls, celebrated early Mass underground in catecombs or tunnels that they had dug out under the city.. These were the days when the true follwers of Christ, were devout in their faith.. They didn't need a hierarchy of Popes, Cardinals, Bishops, Monsigneurs, to look up to and depend on to tell them how to practice their religion. The Apostles themselves, assigned the priests to say the early masses, and the few Christians of this time sacrificed their time, their families and their lives..Many were captured and Christianity was declared illegal, with the sentence of death attached to the illegality..The first Pope as the Catholic Church calls him was St. Peter. He was crucified along with St. Paul, who spread the word of Christ across the known world.. They begged to be crucified upside down as they did not deserve to die in the same manner as Christ.. If you look at these early Christians, they were truly Saints, the Catholic Church and other Churches, address this issue with statues and cannonizations, and to become a Saint now there has to be so many miracles performed in your name..Is this necessary? If you believe in what these various Churches teach, yes it is their proff that this man or woman is a Saint..Me, I basically have my own religion, and it is not hard to define who is a Saint..I don't know what faith Mother Theresa was, but if she isn't a Saint, who is? There was also the case of Father Damien who devoted himself to lepers, on the Island of Molokai he stayed and cared for them when no one else would. He contracted that dread disease and died, that is a Saint..I believe there are many truly holy and devout people that deserve Sainthood.. I myself pray to St. Joseph daily, and I must tell you the prayer that I have and have shared with a few people has been answered more than once. I have no problem whatsoever in believing in Saints, and a spiritual world..I do have a problem with the pompous Churches that sprang up in the name of Christ, and dictated their doctrines and twisted what he said, and made people live on guilt to pay them stipend throughout the ages.. I believe these Churches are a scourge to Christ and his teachings.. I know one thing for sure having studied the life of Christ. He never had gold, he never had a home, he never asked anyone for money, and he sure never asked anyone to bow down and kiss his ring. I give homage today to all the Saints that are truly that, Saints, the very word denotes someone of devout faith and an honor bestowed on a human being because of the way he or she lived their life, giving to others, of themselves without question, and in a lot of circumstances losing their own lives.. These kinds of people should be beatified in a way that is above the common believer, and they truly deserve the Title of Saints.. Once again, my belief is that there are Saints in every walk of life, just like there are demons in every walk of life.. I know it is not necessary to be a Catholic or to be condoned by the Catholic Church to be a Saint.. It is a title bestowed on a very few thoughout history, and there is a reason for that, there are very few Saintly people.. Once again, this is just my humble opinion, whatever your beliefs on Religion, Saints, the hereafter, or anything to do with your God, is yours and yours alone.. I respect that, and just ask that you respect mine...Have a great Day, and remember, THE HOLIDAYS ARE STORMIN ON US!!!!

WOW, they learned you good at LaSalle, or are you following the teachings of Pontious Plain?
Very good take on religion and saints Bro. I believe that as long as you are a good person and do not cause any harm on another human being or helpless animal and you honor your God in your way without the church telling what you need to do, then this world would be a very good place. I am awaiting the word of Pontius Plain on this subject. It should be very interesting. Oh by the way Mother Teresa was Catholic.
I kinda thought Mother Theresa was Catholic. Is she a Saint? If not she should be. I saw some of the work she did with incurable children, it was incredible.
No Pontiuos Plain, or Pilate.. Pontious Pilate, not Plain, as we were to understand and as history, not just the Bible states was a wish washy kinda guy..Had no heart to release what he knew to be an innocent man, yet he didn't want to take any part for the execution. Hey Pontious, as most of us have learned througout the illustrious history of mankind, ya can't have it both ways dude..See ya in Hell..
Well Simple I do have to comment on your profound Statement's. I'm going to try not to make it as long as yours but I hope evryone takes time to read it. Ditto!
As far as Mother Theresa being a Saint,I was talking to her in 1994 and she Sucker Punched me............"Come on Mannnnn" it's a joke Truly Mother Theresa was a Saint.
And I agree with Sterbor and Simple it don't matter what Religion you are, as long as you Treat People right. The old "Do unto Others"
As far as the bible and some of the teachings of the Church I think it's a Joke, not all of it mind you, but most of it.Oh and don't forget the second Collection, pffffffffffft Sell one of those Paccasos, or Van Gogh's or a Da Vinci's they have many many of them in Rome. And A Van Gogh went for 144 Million in 1890.Smirks and this is just my Humble Opinion.
Beautiful.....What mass did you go to today?
That anonymous was me
If you ment me I rarely go, and if I go to hell for that oh well. If there is one.
Dave if you meant me by that statement, I didn't go to Mass. Haven't gone in awhile. Still enjoy the Mass, especially in the morning, and should actually go more than I do, and maybe someday down the line, I will do just that.
Dave, I go to Mass one day a week, may not be Sunday morning or Saturday afternoon but I make sure I get there once a week. I really enjoy a morning Mass during the week as that is all it is, a Mass, not the long-winded sermons and requests for money. By the way, just got back from the Acme and ran into a friend who told me that St. Josephat's, St. Mary's and St. Lucy's churches and parishes are closing. Unbelievable! What a sad day for the Manayunk parishes, if it is true.
Seems to me, that everyone agrees, that Mass is a good thing. I agree with Strebor about the morning Mass. I find a special kind of peace in Church in the early morning. That Sunday Mass, is a completely different story. I used to stand in the back and most of the time wonder to myself, like what is this guy talking about, and why is he preaching to these people, they are here, they came to enjoy the celebration of the Mass not to hear how they are going to be eternally damned for their sins and so forth.. You can have that man. I heard enough of that growing up.., but once again, if people enjoy that Sunday gathering so be it. God Bless them, they sure ain't hurting anyone. As for me, I'll take early Mass during the week...
No plain (I think you are Terry)I was talking to Ernie who I think is simple and I always have because I know he has his own set of rules reguarding Catholicism and Strebor you friend was 2/3 right. St Josaphat's and St. Lucy's will close after the New Year St. Mary's is to remain open. Supposed to announce this around January 7th
Hey Dave, this is Ernie and you are right I am Simple, but in actuality I don't have any rules regarding Catholicism. Catholicism has the rules, I just don't live by all of them.. I do have beliefs that actually question all religions, that I do not agree with, but that is my personal interpretation, and I don't put my beliefs on anyone. They are entitled to believe what ever they want, and worship in whatever way they choose. Freedom of Religion one of the basic Freedoms that I think a lot of people in this country take for granted. I know it is hard to believe in the year 2011, but there are many countries, where we could be thrown in prison for just expressing what we are talking about right now..
I think anyone should belive in what ever they want too. MyselF I Belive in what I belive, and that only matters to me. I dont care what others belive in, nor do I question it when It comes to Religion. Now those tree hugging fucking Socialist smirks and walks away.
Well time to say goodnight to The Good Lord, and The Saints on a day dedicated to them.. Gotta bother them and say some prayers, yep I do pray..Kind of a different day here at the Ville, usually don't get into religion, and we really didn't today. I think in summation, everyone agrees to live and let live. It is a shame that other peoples and religions in this world do not feel the same way. There would be a lot less killing and a lot less wars going on as I speak..Hopefully someday mankind will find a way to live in harmony in all aspects of thought.. Although I doubt it..See ya tomorrow, same place same channel..
"Stay Out Of Harms Way My Friends."
TAPS
Actually I put that on here as a joke but like another time I posted on this forum it was not taken as such. Seems to me if your not Plain or Simple things you write are taken to heart. I apologise, that is strike two on me there will not be a strike three.
