We're Off..Spring Training Eve, and the Phillie faithful are in a panic..Michael Martinez went down..That's it cancel the season, cancel the playoffs, cancel anything good that the Phillies were going to accomplish this year..You know, a few years back the Phils had Jim Thome at first base, and decided to give their young slugger Ryan Howard a shot.., everybody was a lot apprehensive about that.. They had Placido Polanco playing second base, an all star and career 300 hitter, and decided too trade him and let a guy named Utley have a shot at the position.. they had Aaron Rowand in center field, he who smashed his face into the fence making a play in the outfield, kept a rule five player by the name of Victorino, and had too put him in center..Injuries and turnover of players are part of the game..I hate too see these guys hurt as much as anyone, but like I said they have too play the season, somebody has too step up, maybe it will be Mayberry, maybe, maybe, Dominic Brown, maybe Howard will come back early...I saw him in the beginning of spring training, taking ground balls and laughing, he looked pretty good.. The only thing that was a little off kilter was the fact that he was only wearing sneakers, no socks, no bandage, uhhhhh!! why would someone with an open wound be playing in the dirt infield with no bandage covering said wound.. I thought about that then, and I think about it now..For all these high priced trainers and medical specialists, you would at least think they would tell him, or he would have enough sense to cover his open wound..Makes sense to this Simpleton.. Then lo and behold the next thing I hear, he has an infection.. NO!! SHIT!! how about that??  probably shoulda wore a bandage..Unfuckinbelievable...Sooo,, tomorrow take off and see how the three players the Phillies have left are doing..I kinda think, they will be ok, everybody has injuries, and Good Lord knows the Phillies have had their share, but somehow they have been in the playoffs for five straight years, and they will be there again...Have a good time here today at the Ville, me I gotta get some work done. See if I have any clean clothes..Let's see this sock is gray not white, cleats are clean and shined, new look Phillies hat, now where is that second baseman's glove..Oh wandered off there for a bit, sorry about that.  Is that my bat, and ball.. Where the hell are my hittin gloves, oh yeah, we never had any of them, how about my shin guard, oh we never had them either.. How the hell did we play ball for 12 hours a day, without all that equipment, and actually survive too do a little wire ball before it really got dark.. remember that ball it would look like an aspirin coming out of the clouds, and oh yeah it might hit some wires on the way down and oh yeah sometimes you caught it one handed on cobblestones...I digress..Spring Training Looms. Hey if you feel like it bring some of those old time ball games we used to play as kids, man those were the days my friends, we thought they'd never end....
