Mornin, Hey Clare and Dan, thanks for the education on the use of A.D. We have been runnin two weeks today, so I will make the announcement. After today, the tiltle will read, In The Year Of Our Lord without the A.D. which desonates, in the Year Of Our Lord. Got it? Me either, you would think it would say 2011 ITYOOL. Guess that is too long.. I am going along with what Clare told me, because I have no direction on my own, or discipline. Just ask that Fr. Cahill guy..
Watched a Sixers game last night. I really think they are starting to get it.. Doug Collins has to be Coach of the Year, and seems like one fine gentleman.. All Good.
I was going to tell you about these people I met back in the seventies, they wanted to run away and become Clowns, they wanted me to go with them. I told them, I don't have to run anywhere to be a clown, I already am one.. I'm gonna wait a little too tell you that story. As Jackie Gleason would say MMMMMMMM that was a good one.
It was really comforting to see Hillary threatening Colonel Kadaffy Duck. I bet she really throws a scare into that madman.. I could see the duck now. Ha! Ha! I would throw her in the Harem, she could be the den mother. She is threatening me. Bring it on and bring the big Lewinsky with you. We shall fight to the death on camels in the hot Sahara. If I win I stay. So why do we have a problem. Problem is solved you have no shot of winning, so go give Bill some Hill before somebody else does, and leave me alone, so I can wipe out a few hundred thousand people, that hate you anyway.... I honestly believe we should let Russia and China worry about which Libyan is killing which Libyan. Like do I care, that's one less Libyan that can kill an America, that is all I care about. Bring the troops home, assholes, let them all fight it out amongst themselves, best thing that can happen.. One last note on that, Obama told him to get out. Oh OK, I just ruled here for forty some years, and a non-believer such as yourself tells me to get out. I will get my camel hair coat on immediately and head for the nearest boarder. Why don't these morons in Washington just shut the fuck up...
I don't want to get real serious on Plain and Simple, but my question is do you Plain and Simples agree with that? Then lets move on too some fun. WAKE UP PLAIN!!!!!!!!! Every day I gotta wake him up.. Then one day I made a post like 4 AM (hope that AM is correct, or Clare will be all over me) I def. got a find spell check now. Plain told me he was waiting for hours for a post. Ya think, he would take it upon himself to post somethin, sooner or later in the next 40 years or so I am going to run out of these profound words I use everyday..
Ok a little game, we were talkin the other day about who is the best in this or who is the best in that. I was like it is very hard for me to determine the best in anything, I always ask like give me my top ten in no kind of order. Today try your top ten (don't have to be ten, could be 1-2-3 whatever) in Basketball. Talk too you all later. Have a great Saturday, whatever you are doing, and cannot wait for your many observations and answers in lunacy...

Gotta grab a coffee, so I can spill it on my nuts and my shirt. Wake up call, man. Let me do my basketball. In no special order. Wilt, Jordan, Russell, Oscar, Pistol Pete, Erving, Johnson, Bird, thinkin too much that is it.
Why the hell is anyone with a single brain cell worried about a bunch of camel screwing Moose Limbs 6000 miles away killing each other (for now)when the elected/selected DC asshats have for years ignored the Mexican drug cartels and basically have given them carte blanche (and the weaponry)to slaughter our own civilians and law enforcement personnel in our own backyard.
Hey, just your opinion,(Pat) probably because of some kinda oil deal. That is about the only thing I can think of, don't worry Hillary will take care of us. On a much lighter note, give me some basketball, my man.. 1-2--3-, don't matter. Lighten up, here at Plain and Simple and have some fun.. You are Pat right?? LOL
Ha......another.thats takes care of New England, now headed down South then up to the Mid West then over to Caleeeefornia. Cover the nation I say. Keep Plain and Simple busy with the porfundities. Basketball don't have time. Just remember how Speedy lived in those two Gyms at the Rec always shooting. Thats what made him what he was and is today. Did Plain have anything to do with that? He seems to be coaching Simple fairly well. Back on the raod again.

Simple that will look stupid Putting.....In the Year Of Our Lord without the AD, just don't put the AD on there !
As far as the Sixers, there is no Gravity they suck it's why we are all here.
Thought for today........"Some people are only alive because it's illegal to kill them "
Plain, look at your comment, what do you mean by it will look stupid without the AD so just don't put it!! It will look stupid without it so just don't put it.. Hey, McCool, you have permission that where ever you are going next, have a nice long vacation, you can even take money from the trunk (kitty) just ask the General.. Yo, when you guys or girls, see the basketball players already used try for a few new ones. Man, I thought I made that explicitly clear in the rule book (smirks), look like Plain now..
You said you were going to start putting IN The Year Of Our Lord without the AD. Well that would look stupid why would you add without the Ad , Just put in the Year Of Our Lord.........no wonder your simple.
OK, here we go, you mean you thought (ahem) I was going to put In The Year Of Our Lord 2011 Without A.D. Do I understand you now?? The sad part is I think I do understand you. (Blasted again in Plain and Simpleville, get it.) You how about Malone..He was pretty freakin good. So was Olajuawan.
Just fucking put The 5th of March 2011, year of Plain and Simple....Ok a couple of soft balls because of your basketball theme. I hate College Ball because it interupts the evening Lottery numbers. Now High Lobs. What was the name of the Druggist on Main St. who would give you your script and a toaster and a waffle iron cheap, along with more drugs than you could use? What was the name of the restaurant that Floyds Mom worked at under the Train close to Baker St., on Cresson? Finally the Steak Place on Main St.(I heard the owner bought up most of Manayunk). I am working on some hard ones, but if I come up with them how hard can they be. Remember on this Blog. "Calumnies are best answered with Silence"
Wow! Away for a day and I see all these new members; some from Roman and some old town used-to-be's. Plain & Simple your main recruiter
J McC is really coming through for you. Can't say too much about Roman memories just what I hear from Plain & Simple, etc. but I'm still in the old town and attended the great and glorious St. J's from 1st thru 12th grades. Just a little bit older than most of you but was in St. J's the same time as you were just a few grades ahead. There were a lot of Mc's in Simple's class; McCool, McHugh, McCarthy just to recall a few. Simple, I agree wholeheartedly about the Kadaffy-Duck situation. When will we learn to stay away from these messes. Never, as long as, the black gold "oil" is involved. Talking about the black gold, how about those prices? Anyone agree that by Memorial Day the prices will be in the $5.00 range? Also liked the Kennedy comments. The "Lion of the Senate" should have been named the "Lion of Murder, Inc."
Now Plain and Simple are going to yell at me because I'm going back to yesterday's car question because I do not choose to answer today's question; you all seemed to have covered that and you all used the same names. Like Simple said "get with the program"! Read all comments of yesterday and did not see Abraham Lincoln or Freddy Mercury. P & S don't yell or I'll kick both your asses. Plain won't yell because he is a true Jedi but Simple is another case. Earman where are you? Welcome to all new bloggers! Hi General Joe! Claire Hoban certainly adds a touch of class to this whole thing. Plain, she is really going to get on you about your spelling. Love you all!
BACSL... the druggist was Rose Drug? Restaurant under the train on Cresson St. was Janice's...(dynamite cherry counter cokes) Sip N' Steak was the sandwich shop across from the old 5 and 10 on Main Street.
Excellent Just, but I was looking for that crazy Pharmacist's name in that junk yard of an Apothecary who was always behind the counter and never left the store. I thnk he slept there....LOL Kinda reminds you of Simple a little in looks..............
Just My Opinion - I was going to say Rose's Drug Store but they weren't located on Main St. - they were on the corner of Cresson & Baker, and then a few doors down was Janis's Restaurant. I should remember Floyd's mom working there but I don't. Sip and Steaks came along a little later when the Myk restoration started. I think BACSL might be thinking of another steak shop but I can't recall a steak shop on Main St. I know you all remember "Michael's" at the corner of Mitchell & Leverington; you couldn't get in the front door on a Friday or Saturday night the lines were so long. If we hit Michael's after the Saturday Night dance at Holy Family we were always afraid we would get caught out after curfew because it was so crowded. And, then came along D'Alessandro's and they picked up where Michael's left off. Keep these memories going. It's fun and brings a smile remembering the old days. And, BACSL, yes false accusations should always be answered by silence. My secret word is ductures (false teeth for ducks, such as Kadaffy Duck).
Basketball sucks!!!!!
BACSL that Drugist would be none other than Murry.....he never had the script you wanted either but always had something just as good EVEN better.
The steak place was "Sip n Steak" you could get a cheese Steak, T.V. and a gun there.Owener was Rocky.
The name of the restaurant on Main St. Was sip an stabs..There was more stabbing, than steaking..Hey, BAC SL, what do you mean my looks are Simple. Oh, the mad druggist looked like me, I got it. Hannibal Lector.. How about BAC SL droppin the f bomb about the title. Like I care what I put a s Title. Now, I just might start fuckin with it.. How many remember Floyd's Mom (Mary by the way and God Bless her she is still drivin around the town) opening her own restaurant on the Ridge across from the 20th Century diner down about 4 doors. Me and Floyd used to eat there for free. I thought that was the nuts man.. Hey Ear Man I got pictures of me on a sarcophagus, put them on Plain and Simple. I guess you don't like basketball. My magic word Frazzled Duck Comes Down, is enation. I can't let that one go. This is Plain and Simple, Eze Ed Drum Rooolllll Please, The T and Enation..
My man Pat has them all correct, Rose Drug moved to Main St. once the resturtation started in the early 50's.........Well that's what Muz said anyway. I heard from 1950 til forever this is going to be just like New Hope.
You get another ride in the car...........Just don't let Simple drive......River Road would be a nice ride for the two of you............not Sunday or Maonday through unless it is a Duck Car. Did anyone ever see the ICBM Silo's up by the Farm School?
All.. speaking of main Street in the old days (our era) anyone remember the butcher shop...my Mom occassionaly bought meat there. I think it was called Penn Beef. You all have to recall the newstand in front of the old Bank... I recall peering inside through the broken windoes at the vault. Then there was the Scratch House, the Riviera movie theatre (old faded painted sign on the side of the building called it the Empress Theatre... remember the ornate falling apart decor...10 cents for a Saturay matinee with feature film(?), a serial and a cartoon. The Roxy up on the Ridge and the Jeffries were 25 cents. I also remember Polands Jewelry store on Main and of course Richardsons 5 and dime. I use to get car parts in ater years at Sam V's auto parts on Cresson Street, and for some reason I remember the bar next to the movie was called NDA. Those were or were not the days.
Ive seen many Icbm'sin my Force Days, we even deployed a few In my Battle Star Galactia Days.
You earthlings actually had 54 Titan Missle Silos out in Ark, Kansas, and Ariz. way back in the year of Our Lord 1963 without the A.D.
Why The one called Air Force Base 571-7 the door on that baby was 760 ton . Just for a Silo Door.
Rember all them well Pat, the good ole Scratch House Walley Tab throwing people off the Balcony the show inside was better than the one on the screen.
Hey Pat that old newstand was run by the one and only Tartsie Stepkowicz. None other than my Godfather. How about you remembering that.
Simple... as a kid I used to walk down from my house in Wissahickon across Cresson Street pulling a wagon with comic books that I would sell to your godfather... my Uncle Bill was a manager at United News... he brought me returned comics.. those with the title/date on the cover page razored so they could not be sold as originals... I would wait till I got about 100 or so and take them down and sell them to Tartsie... he would pay me 2 to 3 cents a piece... He resold them for a nickel or 10 cents(original cost was 15 cents... big time having dollar bills in your pocket as a kid in the 50's.
Plain... What I remember about the Riv... was a bag of popcorn was a dime and the candy in the vending machine was a nickel... and your sneakers always stuck to the floor in fornt of your seat. My Mom and Grandmother used to go there on certain week nights and they would see a movie and get a piece of free dinnerware.
Yes Pat this is all true, and it was another reason to sit in back of that Balcony you never knew what would be coming off there.
Well guys time to take a shower, heading down to keenans Valley View Inn, going to see none other than Harry Schmitt have a great nite and a good Day tomorrow.
Simple have that post on by 9 or sooner, and dont; put In The Year Of Our Lord without the A.D. just in the Year Of Our Lord
Thanks for enlisting in the crazy blog. It is good to go back in time, sometimes, but all your stuff is great. Keep it up.
That was for Just Plain, not you.LOL
Hey McCool not for me, meaning Simple. How did you get back so fast number 1, I thought we sent you down South recruitin and vacationin, number 2, I didn't see anybody south of Baltimore and I recruited that nut. Alright, welcome back good job. You all know I have feelins, you just can't hurt them. Plain how many times are you going to see Harry sing, you can catch me, you, Floyd and the General any Friday at ECK'S., now that is a show..Pat McHugh lot of years ago, my man.. Saturday night, Plains and Simples, anybody doing anything besides Plain going to see a show he has seen 3004 times.
I was going to fill you in on the newstand in front of the bank on Main Street but Simple already told you it was his godfather, Tartzi (Theodore) Stepkowicz. He was there for a very long time. I remember being very young and going to Main Street every Saturday with my Dad and we would stop my the newstand and Tartzi would give me a nickel to buy some candy. Loved the Riviera, think I mentioned it in an earlier message along with the Jeffries, the Boro and The Roxy. Hey Earman ask you mom about all this old stuff, she'll remember.
BTW: Last year Dave Reichart sent me a 8 x 10 picture of all the altar boys and all the choir boys from Christmas 1959 with father Farrant on the main altar... I hope those of you who wore the silk ties and starched collars have a copy.
Stay safe guys... got a (match)shoot at the range tonight at 7:30... catch up with all later.
My Main man Irish was buying a Racing Form Strebor, was the only place to get them in those days.
And yes Simple it is 3004th time. I just hope he don't want to get me up to sing and dance again.
Well, Ladies and Gentleman like the farmer said when he fell off the wagon......guess I'll hit the road.....about faces jumps up clicls my heels together and does a soft shoe as I sing......these lil townnnnnnn bluesssssssss there going awayyyyyyyyy
There goes my main man Plain, singin and clickin his heels together. Gotta love the spirit he brings to this road we call life. Belt out a few for me tonite T. Love ya pal..
Hey Pat I am the altar boy next to Fr. Farrant on the right. The real good lookin kid.. LOL!!
Plain and Simple came roaring into March. Kinda quiet though, on a Saturday night, all the loons are busy, that is a good thing. We been up and runnin for two weeks. I have had a blast. We have over a 1000 hits on our town. I thought we would have around 23,908, but that is ok. My man, McCool is workin on it. In all seriousness, I hate that, but just once in awhile it is a good thing. We have had a lot of discussions, still dancin and singin, lot of opinions and games. Lot of ball bustin that's for sure. We picked up some more friends along the way this week, and they added some new thoughts to our ever expanding Jedi Knight universe. I personally, appreciate everything everybody brings to our new town.. Have a great time tonight Plain, and remember my friend there is no Plain and Simple without Plain. I think everybody knows and appreciates that. I know I do..
Well Plains and Simples, I guess that wraps up two weeks. Went fast. Looking for a lot of good times to come. Bring it on...TAPS
The restaurant on main st was the Knotty Pinedunialin
The Knotty Pine was the restaurant on main st
The drug store at Main and Grape was Maury's.Lenard Esbensen worked there
SIMPLE... I am the "angelic looking" altar boy on the left next to Father Farrant. How us short guys made the top step flanked "by the man" I don't remember why.
