"It Is Now Post Time."
We're Off. HaHa!! Put May in the date, so about 2 million visitors here today, wonder what the fuck they are doing Christmas shopping. OK it is December, and it is the first VODKADAY!! have to postpone, got a meeting tonite. NO, it is not AA, I ain't a quitter or a Quaker.. Speaking of Quakers, little known fact, they invented Quaker Puffed Rice and Quaker Puffed Wheat, yep they did. It wasn't quite the accident that the Herr's had inventing the potato chip, this was a well thougt out process. After the Quakers and their Brethern in all things non electric, the Amish..That's what I should do become Amish, think they would like me? I digress, back to the discovery channel. (gag) OK the Quakers and the Amish would gather around after the wheat harvest and get the little kernels and stick a tiny piece of a straw into the kernel, they would do this to 1000 of bushels of kernels, they would then pass the kernels around and everyone would start blowing them up (much like Kernel Kadaffy Duck) thus they would get puffed wheat..don't ask how they got puffed rice, I got no idea..They also invented Mothers Oats, yep they did. They named it after Mother Quaker, she was one of the first mothers in the Quaker religion, and she was a mean mother..she wanted her likeness on the cardboard container instead of her smiling husband (Father Quaker) In the end Father Quaker won out, Mother Quaker was shonned (that ain't spelled right), and joined the Jehovah's Witnesses, and started knocking on peoples doors to lobby to get her image on the container, never happened and you heard it first here on Plain and Simple..Listen I gotta get. I smell my Maypo burning

Hey since I started cereals, remember Cream Of Wheat..I really liked Cream Of Wheat, used to get it at Horn and Hardarts at Broad and Vine right where Hahnemann Hospital sits today.. They had some great Franks and Beans, a little bit better than C Rations..Remember when they had the vending machines on Market Street where you could get sandwiches and desserts. WOW!! whatever happened to Horn and Hardarts. Another one that was on Broad Street and a few other locations was Dewey's. Orange Juice, Donut and Coffee, I wanna say a .25.. Got anymore long ago Philly eatin establishments that have passed on by. How about Byrlines, and Sparnes.. I know ARK!! repeat repeat..They did have some good chow..Was it Fichers up on Broad Steet?? Me and a friend of mine in the Marine Corps got thrown through that big window, along with about eight other guys that were fighting in that place..Crazy shit man. I'm thinking a little outside Philly right now, remember Zaberer's that was soup to nuts baby..and how about Captain Starns in Atlantic City.. and let us not forget the original McDonalds/Burgerville.

There was also a Horn & Hardarts on City Line Ave, the shopping center at Belmont Ave. I ate there a lot when I worked at One Bala Ave. I really liked their food, and it was not expensive. Liked the Pepper Pot soup until I found out it was made with tripe. For a little while there was a small H & H take out place on the Ridge right down from the Roxy but that has been long gone. Ark, Ark, the Green Parrot, the Blue Bonnet, Parker House, all on the Ridge. The original best steak sandwich in Rox. was Michael's at the corner or Leverington & Mitchell. On the weekends there were lines half way up Leverington waiting for a steak sandwich. We used to hit it every Saturday night after the Holy Family dance. This will blow your mind - 35 cents for a cheese steak with fried onions and sauce. Currently Barry's has pretty good sandwiches; never did like D'Alessandro's, still don't. Does anyone remember the little restaurant at the corner of Shurs & Mitchell? I think it was Vogt's.
Enjoyed your two exactly alike posts! You take repeating seriously, seriously.
